Founder & CEO

DeLena Johnson is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of WHOO Cares, LLC (Wounded Humans Overcoming Obstacles). She holds a Master of Social Work degree from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with more than 20 years of experience in the mental health field.

Her experience extends to the education and the mental health field, where she passionately   equips individuals and families with practical tools for emotional wellness and personal growth. A few of her specialty areas have been working with adults and youth with drug and alcohol addiction, parent and teen support groups, crisis support and  non-offending parent groups. 

In 2021 DeLena founded WHOO Cares-”Wounded Humans Overcoming Obstacles”.  At WHOO Cares the focus is “Nurturing the wounds of the wounded one human at a time”.  The company's purpose is to help individuals of all ages navigate through the journey of healing by teaching social emotional skills, providing consulting to entities to help enhance their consumers emotional health by providing social emotional training, seminars, workshops on mental health awareness and to importantly help improve the emotional intelligence of all.  One of the  overall goals and aim is to assist faith based organizations/churches with developing mental health resources and mental health crisis support teams. 

Through her work as a Social Worker, and founder of WHOO Cares—Wounded Humans Overcoming Obstacles—she creates brave spaces where healing is normalized, stigma is dismantled, and people are empowered with the tools to thrive emotionally, spiritually, and relationally. Whether serving in schools, churches, or communities, DeLena’s mission remains unwavering: to nurture the wounds of the wounded—one human at a time—while building healthier individuals, stronger families, and more resilient faith communities.
